All set for actress Nagma

Yesteryear hottie Nagma is all set for a grand comeback. Nagma, who scorched screen with her glam quotient in Tollywood in late 90′s, has been missing for a while. Her last Telugu film was Junior NTR-Shriya Saran-Genelia starrer Allari Ramudu in 2002 where she essayed the role of mother-in-law of Junior NTR.

The 38-year-old actress still looks fresh and beautiful. She is currently busy in Bhojpuri and Hindi films. And the latest buzz is that after 11 years, T-town directors are planning to rope in Nagma again. And it’s none other than director Teja who is trying to bring back the star of Gharana Mogudu and Killer.

Though nothing has been finalized, Teja is trying to sign in her for his upcoming film which is in pre-production phase.

Meanwhile, Teja’s 1000 Abaddalu will release on Aug 15.

The gen-Y sensational couple Hansika Motwani and Simbu recently declared their love affair recently. And the grapevine was abuzz that Nayantara and Aarya were also going to declare their love affair too. But Nayantara has come out clear with the truth. The gorgeous woman who faced rejection in love twice over, is now confident that she will not make the mistake again.

First it was Simbu and then the affair with Prabhu Deva which was the most taxing phase of her life. She went as far as converting into another religion for the sake of her love, which fell apart just before marriage. And now Nayantara has confidently declared that she is not going to fall in love any more.

Hansika Motwani, Simbu’s contrasting statements

Recently, Hansika Motwani and Simbu stunned the fans and movie buffs by openly admitting on Twitter that they were in a relationship. As its already very clear that they are deeply in love, the next common question they will be asked would be ‘Date of Marriage?’.

To everyone’s surprise, Both Hansika and Simbhu made contrasting statements in their recent interviews when enquired about the wedding plans.

Hansika stated that Work is her prime focus at the moment and marriage can wait. She confidently said wedding willn’t happen at least for a few years from now.

On the other hand, Simbhu claimed he would be marrying Hansika with the consent of his parents in 2014 and wished to lead the marital life in a peaceful and dignified manner like Ajith who is his favorite hero.

The difference in the statements might be either due to the lack of proper co-ordination or different mind sets. They should have at least discussed few important things like marriage by now to maintain a clarity. Hope, the Love Birds learn from their mistakes.

Celebrity fitness trainer Kiran Dembla reveals Anushka is determined to attain Six Pack abs and keeps reminding her about it every now and then. However, she postponed the action plan till the shoot of ‘Bahubali‘ and ‘Rudrama Devi‘ wraps up on the advice of her trainer as six packs won’t suit the characters she is playing in these big ticket entertainers.

Kiran Dembla ages 40 and she is a mother of two children but that didn’t stop her from joining the six-pack club. She has now become a celebrity personal trainer by guiding Upasana Konidela, Anushka, Tapsee, Tamanna and SS Rajamouli.

She said, “Now I am single, I don’t have any problem and also I was fed up with all these gossips. Now I am busy with my upcoming projects and I love all those roles.”

Sonna Puriyathu – Movie Review

The promotional activities for the film was perhaps a major reason behind drawing us into the theatres. Sonna Puriyathu starring Mirchi Shiva and Vasundhara in lead roles is a romantic comedy that has a lot of witty lines from the actor. Not to miss the fact that the very opening scene of this films keeps you on huge laughter as he croons the Hindi version of Rosaappu song from Suryavamsam.

Mirchi Shiva enjoys his life as a dubbing artist for Hollywood and other foreign films and has no plans to get married. He perceives it to be a trap that will spoil his entire life without any freedom. All he dreams is about is buying a Volkwagan car.

When his mother theatens him on going for a long pilgrimage as a penance to get his son married, he accepts to enter wedlock with a TV anchor Anjali (Vasundhara), who happens to be a calm and innocent girl, who is too religious. But as the time pass by, they come to know about each other’s true identity. As they plot plans to stop the marriage without the attention of their parents, they find themselves married to each other after a hard night party.

The film opens with a pleasant touch as it goes on with some lively moments. Mirchi Shiva’s witty one liners stands out as the major highlight of this film. His mannerisms and body language on pars contribute a lot to the humour elements. Vasundhara does her part well in the role of an urban girl. Manobala as the owner of matrimony web portal adds to the hilarious portions.

The technical details of this film could have been better for the music and cinematography doesn’t stand well to enhance the feeling.

On the whole, Sonna Puriyathu can be watched for the comedy elements of Mirchi Shiva, while with screenplay, it could have been yet more crispy.

Pattathu Yaanai – Tamil Movie Review

When it comes to Boopathy Pandian films, you can expect a bunch of funny moments that is laced with action and romance. It has been quite evident with his previous movies and Pattathu Yaanai is no exception as it carries the same traits of the director’s previous films.

To start off with, the film has some elements resembling the film ‘Malaikottai’ that was directed by Boopathy Pandian with Vishal in lead role.

Cinema News from Tamilomovie.com

Click here for Today’s Special News and Events at Tamilo.com

The film opens in Karaikkudi with Santhanam spotted as a catering cook and he employs a team of 5 members to assist him that includes Vishal, Jagan, Vada Poche Sarithiran and others.

When they lock horns with a local rowdy, the entire team escapes to Trichy for starting a new hotel there. However, things take a turn when Vishal falls in love with a school girl Aishwarya (daughter of action king Arjun). Vishal a dark past that revisits him on the course of conflict with the baddies, who come his way.

First things first, the film has a lot of comedy features and we need to appreciate Santhanam for his continuous series of jokes in the first half. The very moment he disappears from the screens post-intermission, it turns out to be a sluggish drama, but again, he is back soon to wrap up the film with climax. Especially, the final portions of the film that involves his humour is a big stroke, where he says, ‘Yaaruda Ivan, Colour Xerox Edutha Godzilla Maathiri Irukkaan’.

Vishal has to work a lot on picking the right kind of script. This one is passable in parts, but for him he really needs a big stroke to accomplish with his status as an A-league actor. Aishwarya Arjun doesn’t get a perfect launch and is a big minus to this film. The only convincing point is she plays the school girl role and it’s quite apt for her looks. The others in the star-cast are perfect and the humorous villains are a cherry-pick.

The musical score by Thaman is average with a couple of songs turning to be feet-tapping numbers. Both the cinematography and editing has been done with good depth, which keeps the momentum right in places.
On the whole, ‘Pattathu Yaanai’ is a worth watching film if you’re intensely looking out for a time pass entertainer.

STR and Gautam V Menon to team up?

Gautham V Menon’s Dhruv Natchitharam is constantly surging the news for many a reason. For once the movie being shelved was something that went on the rumor mills of Kollywood for a while, then the news of story being looked upon surfaced as well. Then the director himself tweeted in a social network site that not to write him off and he will bounce back.

Not far away the news of STR and Menon teaming up for a movie is also doing its rounds. A while back it was speculated that Vinnaithandi Varuvaya might have a sequel and so on, but then it is rumored that this will not be on the lines of VV and a total different aspect is what is on the cards. The duos share a great bond from VV, and who would not like them to join hands for a flick! So it is all a wait and watch game

Dhanush Celebrates in London

After two Film Fare Awards and one National Award, Dhanush is going to turn 30 this Sunday. And he wants to get it done, the boyish style. The actor has called in five boys to celebrate his birthday, and the half dozen has left to London to realize Dhanush’s dreams.

It is worth mentioning that of the five friends, composer Anirudh is also one. Of the many boy things that Dhanush wanted to indulge in, catching up with Lion King Musical, listening to the London Orchestra and watching a match of the series between Australia and England, are a few that we heard he will certainly be doing. After all the excellent acting, this is the much needed break that Dhanush deserves.

‘Balle Laka’ Singer Becomes Designer

Singer, designer, creative personality and wife of producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri, Anusha Dhayanidhi was the impressive behind the track ‘Balle Laka’ from Ajith starrer ‘Mankaatha’. The concerned hubby Dhayanidhi has now roped in Anusha to design costumes for his next production venture. Speaking on her career in the industry, Anusha says “My husband is very supportive.

He constantly keeps pushing me to stage my creativity. When I sang ‘Balle Laka’, he was the happiest person I’ve ever come across. After that, he had been insisting that I must put my design brains to use in the industry. And now, he has offered me a chance in his own film.

However, I would like to hold an independent mark of recognition in the industry.” Anusha will be designing clothes for actor Jai’s next film, with debutante director Saravanan. She further added that she will be using vibrant colours throughout the film, for a feel good appeal.

What is Trisha doing in Hyderabad?

Dusky seductress Trisha is no more a sought after heroine in film circuits, but surely she is a big piece when it comes to rumour land. The other day, with many people spotting her in Hyderabad, it became big talk now.

After announcing a ‘big break’ from shootings, petite siren Trisha stated that she is actually getting into hibernation mode and will not keep in touch for a while with anyone. But it turned a big surprise when the Chennai siren was spotted in Hyderabad the other day. Early in the morning, some people have actually noticed her at Taj Falaknama hotel in Hyderabad, while some say that they have seen her eating Haleem at a famous joint in twin cities.

Also there are rumours that Trisha has flown down to AP capital in order to spend some time with her close-friend, a struggling Telugu hero. Anyway, she went back to Chennai by the evening according to some reports.

Cine observers are saying that with no films in hand, Trisha is actually taking the help of her ‘friend’ in Tollywood to actually bag some projects. Before that, she also wants to spend some quality time with him. Maybe that is why she is Hyderabad the other day.

Kajal Agarwal’s over action lands her in trouble

Glamour actress Kajal Agarwal has been riding high earlier this year with a series of hits up her sleeve. She scored hits in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi within a span of few months and was labeled as the number one heroine of South Cinema. However, she got carried away by the successful streak and got greedy. She demanded for high remuneration and scared off the producers. With Kajal’s demands going over board, producers opted for other heroines and as a result Kajal is left empty handed in Tollywood, despite having excellent track record.

Right now Kajal has only two films in Tamil, one with Vijay and the other with Karthi. In Telugu no one is approaching her as she is reluctant to cut down the remuneration. She has already lost a film each with Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan. With Kajal’s self goal, Samantha, Sruthi Haasan and Tamanna are making merry by signing up multiple projects at a time.

It is high time for the beautiful lass to realize that money is not all and should be flexible with her demands especially when she is offered a film with some superstar. After scoring hits with Nayak and Badshah, Kajal has only Yevadu to release in which she did a cameo. She had two successful films in Hindi but currently she has no Hindi movie on hands. Her high demands are said to be the reason for it. Well, wake up Kajal!

Ethir Neechal – Tamil Movie Review

Ethir Neechal is one of those films where the first and second halves are vaguely connected. The film oscillates between a cliched romantic-comedy and a sports movie at regular intervals only to appear like an inspired version of Simon Pegg’s Run, Fatboy, Run.

The first half of the story revolves around college going Sivakarthikeyan, who is always ridiculed by his friends for his funny sounding name. Tired of always being mocked at, he decides to choose a different moniker with the hope that things would be better.

Guess what, life does take an unexpected turn for our hero. People start treating him with respect and he even finds himself a girlfriend. However, what follows is a completely different second half, which explains why our hero out of the blue decides to run a marathon. By the end of the film, you ask yourself what was the connection between the first and the second half?

The film starts off like every other romantic-comedy with adequate amount of comedy and drama, but there’s hardly anything spectacular to rave about, including the story.

At some junctures it seems to be inspired by the Simon Pegg film, especially in the second half. The English movie was about a guy, who once jilted his fiancée, decides to run a marathon to win her back. Here, we see a guy running a marathon to prove something that he couldn’t all his life.

Most sports films have a tendency to glorify our hero to the heights of a champion even before winning, and that’s precisely what you see in the film. To add to the woes, we have a bad guy even in the sports arena.

Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru – Tamil Movie Review

Rating: 3.0/5

In the recent years, small-budget comedy films have worked big time, and it is not surprising to see filmmakers considering the comedy genre as a safe bet. Earlier this year, we witnessed hit movies like Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya and Soodhu Kavvum. Now, we are game for yet another film Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru, a bilingual movie which is also made in Telugu as Something Something.

Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru is directed by Sundar C, who has tasted a lot of success in comedy genre. He has teamed up with UTV Motion Pictures after his last year hit movie Kalakalappu. He has chosen Siddharth, Hansika Motwani, Santhanam and Ganesh Venkataraman to play the lead roles. Does the director has a winner in hand? Checkout in the review….

Kumar (Siddharth) and George (Ganesh Venkataram) work at a software company. Their characters are different all together. While the former is shy and feels awkward to talk to girls, the latter has a high ability to attract woman. There enters a girl in their life in the form of Sanjana played by Hansika Motwani.

The Boys actor instantly falls for Sanjana and wants to win her. Being an introvert, he does not have the required confidence to impress her. This paves way for love guru Mokia (Santhanam) to enter in the picture. The former seeks the help of latter in order to make her fall in love with him. And the game begins.

There is a certain kind of freshness in Sundar’s approach. His characterisation and screenplay are built on humorous one-liners. The underlining point of the comedy is that there is no double entendre and it is enjoyable by all sections of the audience.

A hint of ‘Ivan Vera Mathiri’ from Saravanan

Director Saravanan’s ‘Ivan Vera Mathiri’ will feature a story on the similar lines of the title itself according to the director who shared his experiences on a leading magazine.

The movie will showcase an individual who stands apart from the rest, who shatters his ground when everyone looks things in a normal way. Apparently the story of the movie was first put forth to Arya and then after turns Vikram Prabhu’s daring look from Kumki seem to have convinced the director.

Actress Surabhi is also set to have taken special language classes for being well versed in Tamil, considering the movie is to be taken 90% in and around Chennai. The movie is not a complete action buster and will also have enough of cupid’s twist induced.

The movie is being produced by Lingusamy’s production house which is slowly in the line of introducing the best out of fresh talents. Either way, Saravanan’s Ivan Veramadiri is building the hype out of a sharp looking hero and an innovative director.

Ganja Karuppu and crew invite trouble at theatre

As we had reported sometime ago, Ganja Karuppu has turned producer for his flick Velmurugan Borewells featuring the likes of Angaditheru fame – Mahesh, Ragasiya and Arushi. A directorial offering from MP Gopi, a recent move from the director was reason enough to wipe the smile of its producer(Ganja Karuppu) , who usually is seen at his comic best.

The case here was being a unanimous decision to shoot an action sequence inside the Ravibala theater in Sivagangai. The whole scene was planned to be carried out in secrecy, to capture the natural reaction of the crowd who had already bought their tickets for their favorite show. As expected the cameras were set and the tapes started rolling.

Unfortunately, moments later, the situation went out of control as the cameraman and his supporting crew which included a majority of stunt performers were confronted by a huge crowd who did not think twice before they picked up a fight armed with sickles and rods.

Soon, the local policemen were alerted and they reached the spot within time to settle matters amicably. Post this embarrassing incident, Ganja Karuppu has been keeping under the hood and remained unavailable for responses. Even after repeated attempts to contact him there has been no response from his close representatives too.

Good responses flow in for Maryan

It was almost certain that the brand value of AR Rahman, Bharat Bala and Dhanush would be enough to pull in a huge turnout at the theaters when their joint effort Maryan arrived at screens worldwide this July 19.

Not disappointing by any means, it has been well received by fans and critics alike as they walked out remarking it to be a grandeur effort in terms of A R Rahman’s music, BharatBala and cinematographer Marc Koninckx intricately composed visuals and of course how can we not mentioning Dhanush’s mastery at his choice of expertise.

Overwhelmed with responses flooding in, despite the trendy pre-release heavy marketing,AR Rahman remarked at his micro blog “I am super thrilled and happy with the kind comments on Maryan songs, score and the success of the movie… Ellapugazhum irraivanukke!”

Dhanush said “Im so overwhelmed by d grand openin u guys gave mariyaan inspite of no publicity.Dis love s wat I ve earned d past 13 years n cinema.touched”

Likewise, Dhayanidhi Alagiri wrote on his micro blog ”after watching Maryan I’m getting so excited about the movie that I’m gonna produce… Vetri Maaran and Dhanush k Raja’s striking combo…the man, AR Rahman has done a master piece… Maryan was superb !!” Dhanush and Parvathy have also been receiving compliments on their on screen chemistry too. Funded by Aascar Films, its producer is happy that soon the returns will break even helping him achieve the desired revenues in the following weeks.

OM 3D - Movie Review

After three-year and half year long gap, Kalyan Ram, the third generation Nandamuri scion, has made his grand comeback with his much-delayed movie OM 3D, which has soared up the curiosity and expectations to sky high. It is a routine revenge drama with interesting twists. But what makes it special is its well shot action scenes using 3D technology. The film will surely impress action lovers. It introduces viewers to a new kind of cinematic experience. OM 3D is romantic action entertainer and it happens to be India's first action 3D film. It is clearly the show of Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, whose performance is the main highlight in the film. Sunil Reddy's engrossing tale, narration and punch dialogues, Achu Rajamani and Sai Karthik's music and background score, Ajayan Vincent's cinematography, stylish action scenes, Rao Ramesh's comedy and amazing 3D work together make it a visual treat. Kalyan Ram's hit flicks Athanokkade and Hare Ram, OM 3D is also a revenge drama, but what makes it different from them is the inclusion of several interesting twists and turns. Sunil Reddy has penned an interesting tale, which engrossing and entertaining. The movie is all about father-son sentiment and it focuses on how the hero undertake a fight for his father. The director makes amazing grip on the tempo which will surely make you watch it sitting on the edge of your seat. The movie opens with an introduction to different characters and it soon goes into flashback mode. Then follows a couple of romantic songs, few fights, car chase and comedy scenes in the first half, which is quite engaging and entertaining. Especially, a terrific twist at the interval bang is superb and accelerates its pace. The back to back twists increase its intensity in second half. The climax is also good.

Kevvu Keka - Movie Review

Comedy King Allari Naresh has once again teamed up with Devi Prasad five years after the release of their hit movie Blade Babji. Prior its release, the combo's second film Kevvu Keka the title of which has been inspired a song from the Pawan Kalyan's Gabbar Singh, had created lot of expectations among film goers, but the movie is partially successful in reaching them. Kevvu Keka is an out-and-out slapstick comedy movie with a few other masala ingredients. Allari Naresh's perfect comedy timing is the main attraction in the film. Devi Prasad's narration and funny dialogues, Bheems and Chinni Charan's music and Adusumilli Vijay Kumar's cinematography, costumes and art direction are its other highlights. The dragging narration in the second half is its one big drawback. Devi Prasad, who has good grip on comedy, has once again tried to bank on the same genre. The director, who has penned the story and screenplay for the film, has taken a cliched storyline and depicted in a comical way. Set in the backdrop of a kidnap, Kevvu Keka revolves around an ambitious guy, who wants to earn money to win his girlfriends hand. Although he has tried his best in offering a full-length comedy, the director fails miserably in his mission. Kevvu Keka has some of the very interesting moments like scenes in shopping mall and party and medley song in the first half, which has fast-paced tempo with comedy quotient. But its entertainment quotient falls down utterly with slow-paced narration in the second half. The dragging climax may bore you a lot.

MARIYAAN REVIEW

Mariyaan is an Indian Tamil drama thriller film directed by Bharat Bala starring Dhanush alongside Parvathi Menon.

Produced by Venu Ravichandran, the film has music and background score composed by AR Rahman and cinematography by Marc Koninckx.

Dialogues in the film are penned by RN Joe D’Cruz.

Movie: Mariyaan
Directed: Bharat Bala
Produced: Venu Ravichandran
Written & Screenplay: Bharat Bala, Sriram Rajan
Star Cast: Dhanush as Mariyaan, Parvathi Menon as Panimalar, Salim Kumar as Thomayya, Appukutty, Jagan, Uma Riyaz Khan, Rama, Imman Annachi, Vinayakan, Dagbeth Tweh
Music: AR Rahman
Cinematography: Marc Koninckx
Editing: Vivek Harshan
Studio: Aascar Films
Distributed: Venu Ravichandran

Love shatters all the hurdles and keeps you alive through the ages. Such is the immortality of its power. Mariyaan as Bharat Bala assured was to possess this mighty factor as its heart-and-soul. In contrast, the film fails to impress us to a greater extent.

The white salty sands embracing the sea is the backdrop and we see have Mariyaan (Dhanush), a fisherman with his eccentric skills. His love for Panimalar (Parvathi Menon) takes him to the desert yards of Sudan (Africa), where he is a worker on contract. A couple of years have passed by and he is almost done with the toilsome phase and is gleeful about the future he dreamt about. But on the spur-of-the-moment, he is abducted along with his pals by a terrorising group.

What’s more dis-satisfactory about Mariyaan is the brilliant work of actors and technicians going in vain. Dhanush stuns you with an un-matchable performance in places and keeps you hooked throughout the show. Be the scene, where he grieves over the grave of his pal Sakkarai (Appukutty), his frozen-senses reaction to the friend killed in front of him or his conversation with Panimalar by chiseling the baddies down there is superb. On the pars, Parvathi Menon (Poo fame) spells an enchanting charisma with her natural looks, splendid expressions and prodigious performance. She has inordinately exhibited the pathos and affinity of desolated Panimalar for her beau. She is here sure to establish her realms in Tamil industry. National award winner Salim is completely wasted and Uma Riaz as Dhanush‘s mom is okay.

Poor writing turns out to be the stark blemish here. In spite of actors striving to achieve ne plus ultra performance, the flimsy screenplay lets down us. Getting on with the technical aspects, AR Rahman‘s background score is good in few parts, but his experiments to blend ‘Country Music’ with the nativity here doesn’t have the right impact. On the other side, the background score for African portions, especially the one you hear during the intermission point is a remarkable showpiece. Songs proved to be the Chartbusters of this season, but they are nowhere close to the film. Naturally, ‘Kadal Rasa‘ is a good treat for the audience. Alas! The make-up quotients are completely flawed (don’t miss the Dhanush’s hair style that misses continuity from minute-to-minute).

The outstanding visuals of cinematographer Marc Konincks are appreciable for he gives us the feel of ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’ in places. Dialogues by Joe D Cruz isn’t appealing, except ‘Oru Moochukku Poi Innoru Moochukku Inga Iruppaen‘ (Mariyaan‘s promise to Panimalar), which is a metaphorical significance of a professional diver completing their underwater task at one breath in fraction of seconds. The stereotypical climax of Hero Vs Villain combat is completely unwanted here and is forced into the script here.

Overall, despite the fact that the actors and technicians have exerted their best, Bharat Bala fails to utilise these big brand factors. While the first half travels in a docu-drama style of picturing the nativity, the second hour remains engrossing in parts with a happy end. But when you walk out of theatres, you’ll feel something is missing here.

PRABHU DEVA’S SHOCK TO HEROINES

Choreographer-actor turned filmmaker Prabhu Deva is on the top of charts for his Bollywood now. Following a couple of back-to-back blockbusters, he is awaiting the release of his third movie ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya‘ that is scheduled for release on July 19.

At the same time, the actor is busy shooting for his next movie titled ‘Rambo Rajkumar‘ that stars Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. Meanwhile, he is on the pre-production process for his next film with Ajay Devgn that stars three heroines in female lead characters.

While Sonakshi Sinha and Yami Gautham are already on the list, many heroines in Bollywood approached Prabhu Deva for the third heroine character. But to their shock, he has signed Femina Miss India title winner Maanasvi.
